Occupy Wall Street

In my opinion people are not entitled to money from the government. I am totally against this movement. The people that are protesting and are for the movement come across to me as lazy. They say that can’t get a job… it’s not hard to go get the want ads in the paper and look for work. Almost every town in America has a McDonalds or a gas station of some sort, if not a surrounding town does. People just need to get out there and do some looking around for jobs, instead of sitting at home feeling sorry for themselves. There is nothing wrong with working for your money. Some of the people that are for it and are complaining have no try at all.

Week 4 Investment

This week I bought 55 shares of John Deere. I payed $70.79 for them. This company is included in many sectors which seems like it may be a bad thing. However this is a good thing. If one particular sector is doing poorly it has another one to fall back on and wont lose to much money. I bought this because it is harvest season and farmers are going to have to get their tractors fixed. I think this will make the stock grow.

Week 4 Vocab

S+P 500- 500 stocks chosen for market size, meant to reflect the risk/return characteristics of the large cap universe. The S+P stocks are at their large cap.
Russell 2000-  Measures the performance of the 200 smallest companies in the Russell 2000. The Russell 2000 is not worth any money right now.
Treasury Bond- A bond with a fixed intrest issued by the government. I receved a tresury bond with a fixed intrest of 5%.
Inflation- The increase in prives of goods or services overtime. In 1968 my grandpa bought a Camero for $4000 and today it is worth $20000 because of inflation.

Week 3 Comparison

This week I bought 50 shares in Walt Disney for $29 a share. The reason I did this was because Walt Disney is constantly making new movies and toys. They also have two ammusment parks in the country Disney Land and Disney World. These places make lots of money in a day. I bought Disney over another ammusment park company six flags because Disney had the best record.
